For those of you that haven't noticed, I can't really sew. Sure, I can reattach a lost button if you give me an hour or so but i'll probably never be caught making my own clothes (which isn't to say I don't wish I could). That being said, I do know my way around the fabric store. I just usually use my fabric in conjunction with a staple gun.
My great-grandma is coming to visit this weekend. In addition to being a font of knowledge and an incredible human being, she was something of a house flipper in her youth. She saw my house a few weeks after we had purchased it, but I don't think she's seen it since. The difference is huge and she's been dying to see it. I think she's been living vicariously through the pics my pap prints off of Facebook for her. As I understand it, she's quite tickled about my mason jar chandelier.

Quick and Easy Apple Dumplings with Cinnamon Sauce
Once you make these, you will never make apple pie again. Easily halved or doubled for company and considerably less work!
Garden Progress... Big Time
Last Wednesday, my hubbs rented a mini-tiller (the tiller we usually borrow is out of comission) on his way home and set out to till our garden. I have to admit, I had serious doubts that that itty bitty tiller (unfortunately, the only rentable one that would fit in either of our cars) could make much of a dent in our huge garden. I was POSITIVE we'd have to rent it another day.

Evolution of a Chicken Tractor
Nick and I have been dawdling on making our chicken tractor for two reasons; 1. I've been growin a person and he's been finishing our lovely living room 2. as good of a team as we usually make when it comes to drafting, we've been getting too fancy and overwhelming ourselves every time we sit down to design the chicken tractor. This past weekend, however, having finished the bulk of the living room and entertained out easter guests we had a beautiful weekend ahead of us and we had to face the facts. Our little fuzz balls were no longer fuzz balls and had officially outgrown their brooder.

Livingroom Reveal
I'm not saying there's no more work left to be done, but boy you wouldn't believe the difference!
Before:

Of course, I could use to work on my pillow collection and the bookcases still need shelves and stocked and the whole room could use some crown moulding, but what a difference!
I think I owe my loyal readers an apology. I have been shamefully absent the last month or so. Sorry 'bout that. I've been growin' a person, aka: sleeping 12 hours a day and completely repulsed by the very thought of entering the kitchen. It's not been exactly conducive to carrying out the projects I like to share with you.
I'm finally getting my appetite and energy back, so hopefully ill be able to make it up to ya soon. In the mean time, if you're wondering what fruit/veggie the peanut resembles this week, you can check it out on the right. Any idea why they compare them to food instead of...i dunno...common household objects or something else a little less edible?
